Project

To mark its 50th anniversary, the ground floor of the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel was given a completely new interior: a transformation of some 800 m² in which the Lobby, M Club, Library, Dynamic Lounge and Bar TWLV together form the hotel's new Great Room. We delivered the bespoke interior for these various hospitality spaces.

Approach

D/DOCK's design consists of several interconnected spaces, each with its own function and atmosphere. Inspiration drawn from the architecture and character of Amsterdam returns in tactile materials, bespoke furniture, distinctive finishes and art by local artists.

For us, that meant a varied bespoke project in which different materials, shapes and detailing come together. From reception and quiet lounging to working, meeting and the buzz of the hotel bar: the bespoke work always had to suit the specific use of each space while remaining part of a single whole.

Detail

It is in the individual spaces that the project's diversity really shows. The lobby, for instance, features striking reception furniture made of solid glass blocks, while elsewhere wood, soft materials and pronounced bespoke details define the interior. Bar TWLV, in turn, has a clearly distinct character within the same design.

The result is bespoke work that is not just part of the fit-out, but helps shape how the different spaces within the Great Room are used and experienced.
