Elmar Reizen — long built-in bench in blue-stained wood against a planter, with round high tables

Project

On Amsterdam’s Herengracht, dé VakantieDiscounter was given a new working environment with one clear starting point: the holiday feeling had to be tangible in the office too, with light pastel colours, natural wood tones, greenery and bold branding giving each floor a character of its own. Our bespoke interior, from coffee and lounge areas to meeting rooms, customer service workstations and informal meeting spots, ran from the ground floor up to and including the third, fourth and fifth floors.

Approach

The bespoke work follows the office’s playful identity and supports different ways of working. Among other things, we made coffee points, lounge benches, large planters, meeting tables, focus spaces, lockers, pantries and bespoke furniture for customer service and flexible working.

In various places, seating and workstations are combined with integrated greenery. Acoustic panels, upholstery and bespoke wall panelling also contribute to a pleasant working environment in which openness and concentration alternate.

Detail

One of the most recognisable elements is the so-called Elmar Jungle: a large composition of planters at different heights that sets the green character of the interior as soon as you walk in.

The bespoke work is also full of playful references to travel and relaxation. Among other things, we made a travel-agency counter with space for an interactive screen, lounge elements with planters, tiered seating platforms and even a pétanque court on one of the floors.

The combination of wood tones, pastel colours, upholstery and greenery matches the design concept, in which the holiday feeling has been deliberately translated into the everyday working environment.
