Project

In Westfield Mall of the Netherlands, Paagman wanted to create more than a traditional bookshop: a shop of almost 700 m² to discover books, but also to browse, linger and meet one another. We took care of the realisation of this distinctive interior concept.

Approach

The Aces of Space design features a wide variety of shapes, colours, materials and bespoke elements. It was precisely that scale and diversity that made the realisation technically interesting: from bookcases and display furniture to distinctive interior elements and finishes. A project in which our engineering, production and installation came together to realise the design down to the last detail.

Detail

The interior uses HPL, coloured MDF, HI-MACS, plywood and various decorative sheet materials, among others. The combination of materials, shapes and bespoke work means every corner of the shop feels different, while the whole remains clearly a single Paagman environment.

Recognition

The scale, diversity of materials and execution were the reason to enter the project for the Baars & Bloemhoff Maatwerk Awards 2020. On 3 June 2021, Boekhandel Paagman was named national winner in the Retail category. Fine recognition for the colleagues who translated the design into the finished interior.
